Miss Rodeo Lakeside 2012
Faye Garber

Hello fellow lovers of my favorite sport, RODEO! My name is Faye Garber and I am Miss Rodeo Lakeside 2012. I’m proud to represent the Lakeside Rodeo in its 48th year of success. I am also very pleased to be associated with the El Capitan Stadium Association and all of its dedicated members.

I earned my title as Miss Rodeo Lakeside 2012 as result of lots of study, practice and hard work. Still I thank my good fortune to have come out the winner. I feel truly grateful for the opportunities that come with the crown.

My love of all things horse began at the age of five when my parents started me out on riding lessons. When I was in grade school my family moved to the country with horses and other livestock in our back yard. In addition to riding I learned all about grooming, shoveling, and doctoring. At that point large furry creatures became an integral part of my daily life.

My experiences on and around horses taught me much more than just how to ride. I learned a lot about myself- how to be kind, how to be patient, how to fall, and how to never EVER give up on my dreams.

I love the sport of reining, where I have gained the confidence to ride full out into a sliding stop. Although anything horse-related is what I mostly spend my free time doing, I have come to appreciate the simple things in life. Recently, I have discovered my green thumb, and have a small garden that I am very proud of. I also enjoy reading mystery novels and fishing.

I was born in San Diego and lived in Santee as a young child. I now live in the Imperial Valley, but I consider San Diego my second home.

As a youngster, I negotiated everything with my family, from punishments to who sat in the front seat of the car. So it comes as no surprise that I am working towards a career as a litigation attorney. I am currently employed in a small law firm and also attend Imperial Valley College. I plan to transfer to the University of San Diego by the Fall of 2013. After earning a degree in Business Administration, I want to attend University of San Diego Law School.

Rodeo is more than a passion; it’s a way of life. I enjoy spreading word of the cowboy world. I am enthusiastic about being part of a community that brings people closer together, turning friends into family. The El Capitan Stadium Association is a non-profit organization, made up of volunteer members, that exemplifies these western traditions. It donates over $100,000 each year to needy causes. The El Capitan Stadium Association deserves a standing ovation for all that it does. I am extremely blessed to have been chosen to represent this organization and its rodeo, and am excited to spread their same values wherever I go.
