I am Lorna Job - Miss Mother Lode Round-Up Queen 2013.  I was born and raised in Tuolumne County, spending long summers on a horse in the high country, going to school, and being with my incredible, special family.

I have experienced many things in my life - I dance, I sing, I act, but I always come back to horses. I plan to study veterinary medicine in college so I can work with horses the rest of my life.

It is good to be well rounded, but there will always be that one thing that stays deepest in your heart and for me that is my horse Lady. Lady has been my best friend and closest companion growing up. Horses have big enough heart to forgive just about anything, so I think they teach us one of the best lessons and that is to never give up on anyone or anything.

Horses were an important part of history in our country; they brought the wagons and settlers out west and were the trusted mounts of the cowboys. Horses, cowboys and cowgirls help people remember that heritage through the sport of rodeo.

Rodeo is a celebration of the settling of the west that has been close to my heart since the first grand entry I remember watching at my home town rodeo when I was four.  There is nothing in the world like a grand entry or bucking stock or ropers that makes me jump out of my seat and clap. I dreamed of the day I would run that salute and wear the crown to represent my home town rodeo, my western heritage and the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Posse.  If there is one thing that I do in this world I want it to be that I remind people why we are here and to have pride in who we are.

Rodeo reminds us about a piece of history that defines part of our American dream. No matter who you are or where you fit in take some advice from a horse and never give up. You are living the dream. A great country song writer and singer once sang" Mamas don't let your babys grow up to be cowboys" because it is not easy. That is why when we say good bye we look each other in the eyes and say “cowboy up”.
