Taylor Howell, Miss Mother Lode Round Up 2012

Taylor Howell, Miss Mother Lode Round Up 2012

Hello, my name is Taylor Howell. I represent the Mother Lode Round-Up PRCA Rodeo in Tuolumne County. This is a two day event that includes a parade and rodeo that is always held Mothers Day Weekend. This year we celebrated the 55th annual rodeo. I am seventeen years old and this year was crowned on my birthday. I have always lived in Sonora Ca, and have always been involved in the Mother Lode Round-Up activities. It was such an honor to earn the title of 2012 Miss Mother Lode Round Up.

I will be a senior at Sonora Union High School this year. I have maintained a 4.0 gpa throughout all my school years. I have played Varsity Basketball and Tennis. Next year I will be applying to several colleges; my first choice is Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I would like to major in Agricultural business and also participate in the equine colt starting program.

Horses have always been a part of my life. I started showing cutting horses when I was 6 years old. We went on to many championships in the show pen over a 10 year period. I have also participated in Working Cow horse shows, barrel racing, English and Western horse shows and 2 seasons of high school rodeo. The American Quarter Horse is my favorite breed, I love the versatility.

Competing for the title of Mother Lode Round-up Queen was a wonderful experience. As the Round-up queen I will enjoy promoting the sport of Rodeo throughout California and promoting the wonderful area I am from. Tuolumne County sits in the foothills just east of Stockton. Many people visit our area for its wonderful outdoor recreations opportunities such as water skiing, snow skiing, hiking, hunting, camping and fishing.
