The Contestants and their families and friends are heading to (if they are not there already!) Bishop, CA, where the 2016 California High School Rodeo Association Finals is gettig underway with shooting and the portions of the Queen event!

From June 11th till June 18th, 2016, about 300 members of the California High School Rodeo Association (CHSRA), will be roping, riding, tying, racing, buckin', cuttin', and having the time of their lives, at the Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fairgrounds ( Facebook ) in Bishop, California, for the 2016 CHSRA State Finals!  Rodeo and family fun-oriented events are planned all week.

These 300 contestants are made up of the top 5 contestants, from each event, from each of the CHSRA's nine (9) Districts (see below for CHSRA District breakdown).  The cowboys and cowgirls (the future of professional rodeo!) will be vying for the State Championships. Additionally, the top four contestants in each event, will qualify to participate in the National High School rodeo Finals (NHSRA) which will be held in Rock Springs, Wyoming (Sweetwater Events Complex) July 17 - 23, 2016.

These contestants have worked all year within their own California Districts to earn the opportunity to go to the Finals! This week, they will compete in: Barrels, Bareback Riding, Breakaway, Bull Riding, Cutting, Pole Bending, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, Tie Down Roping, 22 Lt Rifle, Shotgun, and of course, CHSRA Queen event.  (See below for Draw Sheets.)  For full event schedules, times, etc., please visit the California High School Rodeo Association website and Facebook.
